Market Garden event.
The vision for this event is a historically authentic, beginner friendly event where different players can retell the story of Market Garden. From the heroics of Robert Cain VC, and John Frost at Armhem, the determined defence of the Son bailey bridge by the 101st, and 15th/19th Hussars, to the remarkable courage of the 82nd airborne, and British Sappers crossing the Waal river. I want each table and game to make history to come to life.
Having established that as the vision for the event let’s get down to the nuts and bolts.
Each player must select an 100pt force to replicate an actual formation from the battle.
Will be prizes for the Best Sport, Best Painted, and the most important the best themed.
This event isn’t a tournament so there will will 1,2,3 of the best themed armies.
Best sport and best painted will be determined as usual as a vote by other players.
Best themed armies will be determined by judges, the things judges will be looking out for are historically authentic lists with consistent paint jobs and basing. The more research a player puts in the better, the paint job doesn’t have to be perfect, just consistent, for example if a player shows up with Looted Char b1s still in French camo the the Judges aren’t likely to give that player Best themed. What the judges are looking for is effort. If however a player set’s up a list that the judges don’t think is historically authentic it is up to the player to prove that it is.
A map on the wall where the wins are tallied, and the result of Market Garden will be determined by the amount of wins and losses by either side.
The Tables.
Where a player themes there list will determine which table they initially play on, There are two tables for XXX Corps, two for the 101st airborne, 4 for Nijmegen, 4 for Arnhem.
The Lists.
100pt, players are allowed to combine any number of books so long its thematic and none of the units are from the banned list.
Unbalanced and purely competitive lists will not be accepted.
Just so it’s clear if it isn’t on in the available formations list that formation or platoon list that formation or platoon can’t be taken, however there will be a list of platoons and formations that cannot be taken. Lists will be submitted to one of the event organisers, the event organisers reserve the right to reject lists if they don’t adhere to the rules outlined for this event.
